How can I check from a PDF file, when the corresponding MS Word file was originally created? I want to know when a pdf was originally typed in MS word and also when it was converted into a pdf. I suspect the document has been backdated.

Look at the text formatting. Unless the text has been cleaned up line-by-line, you're going to find bits of formatting that have carried over from the PDF. That means that word spacing, letter spacing, kerning, line breaks and justification errors may appear. Some paragraph breaks may have been dropped. These effects will be more or less pronounced depending on the conversion method used. A rough cut-and-paste will produce a lot of them; a text-only paste eliminates most errors but may intoduce others, like missing line and paragraph breaks. If you're looking to preserve an exact copy of the original text, it's best to do a line-by-line comparison. And no, you can't rely on a spell checker or grammar checker to pick this stuff up automatically.

PDF documents can be cumbersome to edit, especially when you need to change the text or sign a form. However, working with PDFs is made beyond-easy and highly productive with the right tool.

Type on PDF: All You Need to Know

It is worth noting however, that the .DOC extension is not a requirement for Microsoft Word 97-2010. Microsoft Word 2010 and Word 2003 do not require .DOC. They do however, require the .CRT extension. If you are using the previous version of Microsoft Word then you will first need to change the extension to .WORD then save the document. Save the file with the following settings: File name: My PDF File.doc File extension : .DOC File name extension: .PDF In the next steps we are going to be able to view the document and print it as PDFs. STEP 10: Getting PDFs in Microsoft Office 2003/2007 Note: This step is only necessary when you have the Microsoft Office 2003/2007 file in your computer. You must have the original file or copy of the Microsoft Office document before continuing. Before we can use Microsoft Word to print out PDF files we must have the original .DOC file. If your computer does.
